Former Oregon House speaker Dave Hunt, a Democrat, was certainly one of eight males cited by Portland police in an undercover intercourse visitors sting operation, officers and experiences mentioned.
The Portland Police Department mentioned in a May 1 release that its Human Trafficking Unit carried out an undercover operation in April, involving officers posting faux advertisements on “known human trafficking websites.”
The eight males, together with Hunt, allegedly contacted the undercover officers to “arrange payment for sexual acts.” Police mentioned the people have been charged with industrial sexual solicitation, a misdemeanor beneath Oregon regulation that’s punishable by as much as 364 days in jail, a tremendous of as much as $6,250, or each.

Contacted by the outlet, Hunt declined to remark, saying solely, “I don’t think I should talk about that.”
Hunt’s legal professional, Micheal De Munis, later instructed the Portland Tribune that his shopper “denies the allegations, but respects the criminal justice process and will refrain from saying more until he has his opportunity in court.”
From 2009 to 2011, Hunt served as speaker of the Oregon House, earlier serving a time period as House majority chief. He represented components of Clackamas County within the state legislature for round a decade.

During his time within the legislature, Hunt sponsored a number of payments towards intercourse trafficking. In an ironic twist, he voted for HB 2714 in 2011, the very invoice that made industrial sexual solicitation against the law in Oregon and beneath which he was cited and arrested.
